Problem

Creating a centralized multiproduct SaaS experience.

As SNAP! Mobile shifted to a SaaS model, a homepage launchpad became essential for users with multiple subscriptions. However, many products lacked dashboards to display key metrics and actions.

Are dashboards the essential tool for optimizing all products?

Solution

Value-based dashboards provide a contextual experience.

We envisioned Snap!’s homepage as a control room, consolidating product dashboards to streamline workflows. However, as I learned more about the products and users, it became clear that this approach needed reassessment.

User Stories

Utilizing Product Managers insights and goals.

I worked with Product Managers to gather research and create User Stories, exploring each product's workflow to identify key metrics for goal-based homepage navigation.

Flowcharts

Centralizing data flow.

SNAP! Home would streamline workflows as a central hub for data, communication, and resources.

Insights

Diverse products,
diverse analytics.

Early designs were data-heavy with color segmentation, but lacked clarity. Stakeholders wanted more visuals, though not all apps could support this. I returned to discovery to identify the key data each app generated and what engaged users most.

Wireframes

Prioritizing scalability when blueprinting space.

Early designs did not consider each application and the amount of data that could be pushed.

Design

Understanding when infographics are valuable vs a hinderance.

Products that generated dense information benefited from being represented with data visualization. However, others performed better with action-based callouts.

Design Choices

  • Different user type, different UI

  • Modular design

  • Goal-based navigation

  • Self-serve model outlets

VS

Group leaders just need to know todays metrics

Admins are interested in lifetime data and performance analytics

Design Iterations

If I had a nickel for every iteration…..

I would have a lot of nickels! Iterations varied from layout, data displays, and features.

Final Mockups

MVP designs are ready to be a learning tool for future iterations.

Future Iterations

More integrations with growing SaaS platform.

The SNAP! analytics app services more products, it will generate more and more data.

This growth will drive the utility SNAP! Home has to manage information.

Personal Takeaways

Keep asking questions.

It’s easy to get wrapped up in ideating new ideas and features but I learned there were valuable questions to consistently return to.

  • Why is this meaningful to the user?

  • What context does this information provide?

  • Is this valuable or just cool? Not all rules apply to all situations.

Personas made a big difference in empathizing with Mark and answering those questions.
